Interestingly, I found something I never think it would be interesting

Last week I joined a meeting, which many manufacturers trying to show their products there.

On the agenda, there are companies from everywhere from China. (The company name here is translated from its pronunciation)

Project 1: Hanmei Information Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (electronic endoscope)

Project 2: Henan Xuanwei Medical (laparoscopy, soft endoscope, 5G remote equipment)

Project 3: Guangzhou Qixie Zongchuangke (disposable sterile protective cover)

Project 4: Hunan Meg Bio (medical sodium hyaluronate silicone scar glue)

Project 5: Shenzhen Changmian Technology (electroencephalograph)

Project 6: Guangzhou Hande Zexin Pharmaceutical (HD vaginal microecological fluorescence detection)

Project 7: Tianjin Baihe Zhiyuan (hernia repair products)

Project 8: Ansukang Medical (ultrasonic knife)

Project 9: Guochuang Huikang (nebulizer)

Project 10: Hunan MaowuMedical (multi-function surgical dissector)

I was there mainly because I’m interested to see the endscopes. Actually the companies showed some interest feather of their product about the endoscope. Like disposable with a high resolution image. On their demo, their system showed a great image quality as Olympus endoscope!

5G connction of system provides some application scenario such as remote diagnosis, live case for remote education/academic event. On an integrated system, hospital can save the cost of hire a photographer/video team and makes the live case as a routine work(as of an acedemic center). Personally think due to the GDPR issue, the Infrastructure differ, at this stage, the 5G combined system may not that easy to spread out.

The third one and fourth one sounds not really interesting: typical Chinese idea. Based on our advanced supply chain, we take several years makes our locallized product (me too) comparing to the international brand but offer at a better price.

Unfortunately I skipped the project 5-9 and only heard about 10.

Interestingly, I didn’t really know about the scalpels before and I’ve learned my lesson here..

I though the electric scalpels are not with much technology one, since there are always 10-20 manufacturers providing this on all kind of exhibitions (Medica, CMEF, Arab Health etc..)

However this one showed something a little different.

The product manager on the stage tell us, this scalpel is able to work under a lower power, able to cut the fresh without causing smoke and smell. It reminder me while I am staying in the OR when surgeons cut the patient with quite some smoke and everywhere the smell. In China, in Germany in many different countries.

During their demoing process, while the ordinary scalpel need to work under the power of 35-40 W, generating quite a lot of burnt on the tissue. The so called “energy focused” scalpel is able to work under the output of 15 W, sharp as surgical blade, I can even cut the skin with the blade. (Yes, I tried it on a pig feet!).

I think surgeons are annoyed by the smoke and smells from normal electric scalpel, which may block the vision, and may cause long term health concern.

Chinese companies are developing many good products, I do hope one day we could proudly say that “This is made in China, this is a great product!”
